Dr.Basu has worked considerably on ethnicity, ethnic mobilisation and ethnic politics in India. This study focus four groups Kurm, Namashudra, Mahisya, Rajbansi located in eastern region, got politicised in course of demand for a separate state, recognition of SC,ST, though had a past history of Kshatriya movement.
